Flash back to the year of 2006. I was a new bride/wife to my husband. The idea of marriage still had me on this giddy high. I was wearing a wedding ring, and I had my husband's last name. I was officially a "Mrs"....something that I had been dreaming about since I was in college as an undergraduate. I was saved in the above picture, but I wasn't fully surrendered to the Lord. There is a MAJOR difference. I didn't realize that marriage was more than just a commitment, but it was an assignment. I had a part in helping Terrence to reach his destiny. However, I was also very insecure and full of anger from rejection by men in past relationships. The devil knew this, and he used me to attack my husband. When I wasn't attacking him, I was trying to control everything about our lives. I wasn't praying for my man or for my marriage. I figured that better opportunities or more dates would help things. Nope! The devil increased the attacks on our money & communication. Then there was my numerous health issues. Fast forward to the Spring of 2015, I just got tired of being tired. I gave it up to God. I told him that I wanted the marriage that HE designed for me. I stopped fussing and started praying. More and more praying. Still praying. The changes in my attitude, demeanor, & presentation were immediate. I wasn't interested in fighting anymore. Peace showed up and joy came back. I've been praying more for my husband NOW than since the beginning. I know WHO our real enemy is. God gives me new things to pray concerning Terrence daily. I've learned how to love him for who he is and not for who I want him to be. It's not my job to change him, but to love him. I can't wait to say "I do"again in August 2016. We are renewing our vows as we'll be celebrating 10 years of marriage.
